Phares Digital Output Gear Tooth Sensors are ferrous (iron) detecting devices with extremely accurate gear edge detection. They are some of the most robust and reliable industrial sensors on the market today. They are designed for high temperature, wash down areas, outdoor, oil, dust, dirt, corrosive, and heavy vibration. Most of the Phares Digital Output Gear Tooth Sensors have 1/2″ NPT threads which conveniently seal to 1/2″ conduit for quick, clean installation. Various sensor barrel lengths allow greater flexibility for mounting and bracket location. Use a Phares Terminal Strip Assembly (TSA) Box for mounting, termination, and applications which require long cable runs.

Phares Gear Tooth Sensors are designed for industrial speed monitoring utilizing a wide variety of gear shapes and sizes. They detect other high iron content targets as well, such as bolt heads, key stock, etc., and also detect magnetic targets. Targets must be high iron content. Medium or low iron content is not a suitable target.
Phares Gear Tooth Sensors digital output signal is a square-wave signal which is directly proportional to the input (linear). The digital output signal is compatible with logic inputs (PLC, VFD, DCS, etc.) and other devices which can measure frequency directly. This includes Phares Industrial Panel Mount Tachometers and Zero Speed Switch Modules.

Phares Gear Tooth Sensors are very similar in appearance to our Hall Effect Sensors. The difference is that our Gear Tooth Sensors have a flat side on the barrel for sensor orientation. See Figure 2 and Figure 3 below.
