Company History

Phares Electric has over 40 years of experience in the industrial controls market.  There are thousands of Phares Electric systems installed worldwide.

The original company was called Phares Electronics Corporation and was incorporated in 1967 by Paul Phares in Toledo, Ohio. The company’s first product was closed circuit television systems. Phares Electronics designed, manufactured, and leased them for sporting events and business presentations. The company also designed and manufactured consumer products.

By 1980, Phares Electronics was producing mostly industrial products.  The locations in Toledo, Ohio were closed, and operations continued at the industrial site in Erie, Michigan.  Paul Phares’ son Alan Phares became President of the company in 1982.  A product line of industrial tachometers and related components was added. The company’s industrial clientele grew significantly.

The company experienced continued growth in the 1990’s, producing exclusively industrial control products. Operations were changed to handle jobs of larger size and quantity.  The business moved to a new, larger location in Monroe, Michigan in 1998.

In 1999, the second generation of tachometer and zero speed switch products were released.  Eventually the proprietary tachometer products won out over contract work.  These products remain the mainstay of the business today.

In 2007 the business was moved to the Tampa Bay Area in Florida.

In 2019 the name of the business was changed to Phares Electric to better reflect the type of products sold, which is electrical equipment.
